Assessment Centers Methods for Supervisory

and Management Development

 Public Safety Personnel

For both LE and Corrections personnel

 

Note:  these dates and courses are specifically for local candidates, although if you are from outside San Diego area, you are welcome to attend, regardless of rank.

Refresher Policy: Anyone who has been to a prior workshop and who  has not yet been promoted is entitled to join a new class for $100 due to course expenses, which includes a working lunch and course materials. Our only caveat is that we must have a minimum of 10 students who have registered for the course. We will take a minimum of 3 "refresher" students per class


 

For Public Safety Assessment Centers:

  • Anyone who has to promote using an assessment center including:

  • Federal Agents GS 14 - GS 15

  • Police officers,  Investigators, Detectives, Sheriff's Deputies, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, Commanders, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief's and Chief's.

  • Civilian (non-sworn) Supervisors and Managers

  • State Police, Highway Patrol and Public Safety Agencies

  • Firefighters, Engineers, EMS, Para-Medics, Fire Captains, Battalion Chief's, Division Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, Deputy Chiefs and Chiefs.

  • HR and Training Units

  • Corrections, Detentions and Courts

  • Those who wish to build Supervisory and Management Skills (Workforce Development) 

  • Those who wish to create a succession planning for Public Safety organizations: Law Enforcement, Federal, State and Local Public Safety agencies

    • Typical Agendas:

      • The first day of class includes: Oral or Panel Interviews, Oral Presentations and Written Exercises.

      • The  second day includes: In-Basket, Employee-Subordinate Counseling, Citizen Complaints, and Leaderless Group/Meeting Management exercises.

      • The classes include actual sample assessment center exercises, complete with feedback on helping you improve your performance.  

  • You'll discover what raters are really looking for and be able to demonstrate key KSA's based on your own previous experiences.
